It’s pumpkin season and time to start making all things pumpkin. I decided to start with a new recipe for pumpkin bread and let’s just say it’s a hit with my family. I’ve already made two loaves and will probably be making a few more before Christmas cookie season starts.
This recipe is super easy to make and I love that it uses maple syrup. It adds a depth of flavor that is different than a recipe using regular sugar. I decided to add in a cup of chocolate chips – which of course my family loved.

2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda
1 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup canola oil
2 eggs
1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Lightly spray a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
In a large bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients – pumpkin puree, maple syrup, eggs, oil and vanilla extract. Add in the dry ingredients and fold together until combined. Add in a cup of chocolate chips, pecans or other nut if desired and fold in. Transfer to your prepared pan.
Bake for 55-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in pan for 5 minutes and then remove to completely cool. Slice and serve.
