Baked Sour Cream Donuts

Donuts are one of my favorite things to indulge in and its been a while since I made a batch. What I love about making donuts at home is that most recipes make only 6 and they’re easy to customize.

These sour cream donuts are light and fluffy. Nothing like a traditional cake donut. They had a hint of tartness from the sour cream and had the perfect amount of sweetness from the glaze. In less than 30 minutes, you can easily whip up a batch of these donuts.

1/2 cup sour cream
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup canola oil
1/2 sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
Dash of nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt

Glaze:
1 1/4 cup powdered sugar
4 Tbsp milk
1/4 tsp vanilla

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray, set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together the sour cream, egg, vanilla, oil and sugar until smooth. Mix in the flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg until combined. Transfer the batter to a gallon storage bag. Cut a corner and pipe the dough into the prepared pan.

Bake for 12 to 16 minutes or until the sides are starting to turn golden brown. Cool slightly before turning out a wire rack.

In a shallow bowl, whisk the glaze ingredients together until smooth. The glaze should be on the thinner side. Dip each donut into the glaze and flip over to coat both sides. Place back on a wire rack. Enjoy once the donuts have completely cooled.
