I’m a big fan of smoothie bowls and decided to whip one up for breakfast this morning. I usually don’t eat breakfast as I do intermittent fasting, but was in the mood for a little something this morning. Smoothie bowls can be made so many ways and use whatever fruit you have available.
My bowl today used fresh cherries, frozen bananas and blueberries and topped with some sliced almonds, drizzled honey and cherries. What type of smoothie bowl would you make?
8 fresh cherries, pitted
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup frozen blueberries
6 oz cold almond milk
1 tsp chia seed
Toppings: sliced almonds, shredded coconut, fresh fruit, drizzle of honey, dollop of almond butter
In a blender, combine all the ingredients. Puree until smooth. The smoothie should be on the thicker consistency – you’ll want to be able to eat with a spoon. Pour into a bowl and then sprinkle your desired toppings on. This makes one serving, but could easily be increased to make more.
