We’re big fans of trail mix and I’m finding ways to make it at home. It’s less expensive and I can customize it to whatever we’re craving each week. Plus, it’s a great way to get my kids to think outside the box and made things on their own.
This trail mix is super easy to make. I made a batch of granola, but you could always use a store-bought version. I modified this recipe for Honey Almond Granola and substituted the almonds for walnuts for the perfect start of trail mix.
3 cups of homemade or store-bought granola with nuts
3 cups freeze dried strawberries
1 cup mini chocolate chips
In a large bowl or jar, mix together the granola, strawberries and chocolate chips. Store the trail mix in an air tight container for up to a week….if it lasts that long.
