I don’t eat breakfast very often, but was in the mood for a smoothie the other morning. I stood in my pantry and looked at what I had on hand and what recipes I had pinned. I always have rolled oats on hand and had a bag of dates I bought for another recipe that I figured I could do something with.
I threw all the ingredients into a blender and pureed it. The flavor was delicious and had the slight hint of sweetness from the dates. I’m going to use less oat milk the next time as I wanted a thicker smoothie, but will definitely be making this for breakfast or an afternoon snack again. I bet it would be good with some frozen raspberries as well!
1/2 cup rolled oats
3 medjool dates, pitted
1 – 1 1/2 cups dairy free milk (I used oat milk)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp cinnamon
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 cup ice
In a blender, blend the oats until they look like flour. Add in the dates, milk, vanilla extract, protein powder, cinnamon and ice. Either add in the ice to the smoothie to make frozen or pour over for a cold drink.
