I made this glazed ham for Easter, but it would be perfect for dinner or any other family meal you have coming up. It’s super easy to make and the glaze is so good….I could eat it with a spoon. The combination of the wine and peach preserves with the mustard all blend together and becomes a thick glaze on a spiral ham.
1 fully cooked spiral ham
1 cup Riesling wine
2 sprigs fresh thyme
1 shallot, finely chopped
18 oz jar peach preserves
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup stone-ground mustard
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a roasting pan with foil for easier cleanup and place the ham into it. Set aside.
In a small sauce pan, combine the wine, thyme and shallots. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and simmer uncovered until the wine has reduced in half. Remove from the heat and discard the thyme sprigs. Stir in the preserves, brown sugar and mustard.
Brush half of the glaze over the ham. Bake the ham uncovered for 1 hour and 30 minutes and baste the ham with the reserved glaze every 30 minutes. Cover loosely with foil after 90 minutes and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
