Back in college, I worked at a food truck at flea market and we made fried oreos (and funnel cakes) all the time. I ate way too many of them while I worked … there’s just something about warm and gooey oreo with a cup of a coffee. Yes, I ate them for breakfast. It’s what happens when you start working at 6am on the weekends.
I decided to give the air fried version a try and they were so good. Granted, it’s not the same as being fried in hot oil … but it brings back the nostalgia of working all those early mornings making and eating fried oreos. This recipe uses crescent rolls as the dough. Quick and easy!
container of crescent rolls (8 per package)
8 oreos or other type of round sandwich cookie
powdered sugar
Unroll the crescent roll and press the seals together to form a large piece of dough. Cut the dough horizontally into two pieces and then cut vertically to make 8 pieces of dough. Separate each piece of dough and place an oreo in the center of each one.
Wrap the dough around the oreo until it is completely covered. Continue until all cookies are covered in dough. Preheat your air fryer to 325 degrees for a couple of minutes. Place the dough covered cookies into the basket, leaving space between each cookie. Bake for 5-8 minutes or until golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
Transfer to a place and immediately dust with powdered sugar. Just like traditionally fried oreos, let them cool for a minute or two before your bite in … otherwise you’re going to burn your mouth.
